Another slow day in the gym.The 9am class was pretty well attended and there were some at 2;30 but the rest of the day? So I had planned a great rant about commitment, mine and yours but I think I'll leave it to this, if you have been a regular member and are not coming back, please let me know. Even if its through e-mail or some other form if you don't want to tell me directly. It is difficult to budget a business (and a family) based on whether your income is going to change in the coming month(s). I have been advised on several occasions to employ contracts for this very reason but am reluctant. Maybe its time? Enough said for now.

I have been remiss in recognizing a very important person in this venture-Penny. She supports this passion of mine (ours) and has expended a great deal of time and resources into it. Thank you…

It was good to have Monica back in the gym this morning with Jason. Its been a long time and I wonder if they noticed a difference in format/workouts. With that said, I'd like some feed back from those that have been in in the last month or so on the change in focus at CFCV. If any of you follow Dutch, Robb Wolf and critically look at other affiliate's wod's, you should see a shift to a more strength focused program with shorter metcons and a purpose. I would like to think we have improved in those elements recently and will continue on our quest of learning the Oly lifts and other skill related movements. If the change in programming is the reason for a drop in attendance I'd like to know.

I really hate to go off like this and to those that are regular committed members its not about you….. I just get antsy the last week of the month, maybe it's PMS?

By the way the replacement shirts are in and they're nice. And yes, we have smalls. I also updated the schedule through November 30th. I added a free workout on two Sundays for friends and families at the suggestion of Kara. I am also mulling over the long debated price increase for new members along with an extended On Ramp program to replace the foundations sessions. I realize that the foundation sessions are a turnoff for some but frankly, it is not fair to you the established members for newbies to receive all the coaching during workouts until they're up to speed, And I don't believe 4 sessions adequately prepares most for regular classes especially as we learn more technical stuff like the Oly lifts and their progressions.

Ron, I totally agree with you especially the part about Penny, she has been there supporting you and helping you make the gym what it is today. So thank you Penny, for all you do helping Ron and all your support. you rock.

For what it’s worth, I think you’re on the right track with the programming…. but then I really LOVE the Oly lifts and other strength work. I feel like I’ve seen a much bigger gain in my strength, and confidence in all movements, with the increased strength work focus. The WODs can still beat me up, but it somehow seems to be in a more recovery-friendly way, if that makes sense. Keep it up! And love the small tees- thanks!

IM LOVIN THE OLY LIFTS AND THE STRENGTH WORKOUTS. U ARE DIFFENTLY ON THE RIGHT TRACK. I SEE A HUGH CHANGE IN MY STRENGTH AND CONFIDENCE I HAVE TO TOTALLY AGREE WITH STACEY!!!. HOPEFULLY ALONG WITH OTHERS. CUZ IF U DONT FEEL ANY PAIN U ARE NOT GAINING!! IM STOCKED FOR THE SUNDAY CLASSES. PEOPLE WON’T BE SO TIMMED TO WALK IN HERE IF THEY HAVE A FRIEND WITH THEM. ONE MORE COMMENT I THINK UR RIGHT ON MAKIN THE CONTRACTS, PEOPLE ARE COMIN AND NOT SHOWIN UP FOR A WHILE AND IT WOULD PUT ME INTO PMS MOOD. U NEED TO BE ABLE TO COUNT ON PEEPS AND WHEN THEY PAY ONE OR TWO MONTH, THEN NOT SHOW UP WITHOUT NOTICE ITS REALLY HARD TO MAKE UP THAT EXTRA $$$.

  5. Ron,
My recommendation would be to setup an automatic billing system. I am using perfect mind (www.championsway.com). CrossFit Avalanche is using Mind Body. Whatever solution you use, you setup automatic billing and if a member wants to quit, it is up to them to notify you formally so that you can stop the automatic payment. This allows you to setup a member once and not have to chase them around at the beginning of each month trying to collect dues. You can focus on what matters, training your members. I too hate contracts. And this is the best compromise I could think of. My system also allows me to scan member’s cards when they show up to a workout so that I can track attendance. If someone hasn’t been showing up for a while, it notifies me so that I can find out what is going on. Feel free to shoot me an email or call if you are interested in learning more (I gave you my biz card at the Oly cert).

Sure love ya Penny! You’re a good wife and a great supporter for our xfitness! Thanks for all the time and energy you put in for us!

Thanks for the comment Rachael and yes Penny has been a great athletic supporter and understanding wife. Don’t really know why she puts up with me!

    Ty,
Thanks for the input. I have looked at Mindbody and used Zen Planner for awhile. I will take a look at your system as well as evaluate some of the contract examples I have received. Bottom line is you’re absolutely right, I need to do whatever it takes to be able to focus on the training as opposed to spending so much time on the business side. I’m not really sure of the appetite for EFT’s and credit card charges but anxiously await feed back from our members.
